Overview
Merdot Search is a web search engine that does not watch you. There are no ads in the results, no advertising profile behind them, and no tracking of what you looked for. A query is answered and then forgotten.
Results come from Merdot's own index and from open engines, combined and ranked by Merdot. Every result page can carry a knowledge panel for the person, place, product or topic behind the query, so the answer is often on the page before a link is opened.
Capabilities
- Ad-free results · no sponsored placements, no paid ranking, nothing that looks like a result but is not one.
- No tracking · no search history stored against a person, no advertising identifiers, no third-party scripts on the results page.
- Knowledge panels · a summary card for entities the query is about, with the facts and the sources they came from.
- Favicons through a privacy proxy · site icons are fetched by Merdot's proxy, so the sites in a result list never see the searcher's browser.
- Own index plus open engines · Merdot's crawl of the web, merged with open engines for coverage, ranked without an advertiser in the loop.
- One account · sign in with the same Merdot account used across the ecosystem, or search without one.
In practice
- A student searches a topic and reads the knowledge panel and the first sources without an ad taking the top of the page.
- A business sets Merdot Search as the default engine for its team and stops leaking its research to advertising networks.
- A Merdot AI user checks a claim against the live web through the same account, in the same session.
